Midlife Mastery Through Fitness
My fitness journey is a testament to the belief that it's never too late to start. It wasn't until my 30s that I discovered the transformative power of running and rowing, activities that sparked a love for physical wellness I had never known. This newfound passion led me into the world of martial arts in my forties, where I achieved a black belt in KaiZeDo and a blue belt in kickboxing. My dedication and skill even took me to the competitive stage in the Battle of Britain competition, and I found joy in mentoring young enthusiasts in junior KaiZeDo classes.
Approaching my late 40s, I noticed a decline in my energy levels, which I initially attributed to the demanding routine of balancing a career, raising a young child, and caring for my ailing mother. Yet, the onset of menopausal symptoms like hot flushes, night sweats, brain fog, and anxiety signalled a deeper issue. However, it was my own health challenges, including a life-threatening encounter with sepsis, that profoundly deepened my appreciation for the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. This realisation was pivotal in my decision to become a Master Practitioner of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) and to delve into the world of meditation. My recovery journey became a period of intense learning and self-discovery.
As a meditation practitioner and trainer, I've come to recognise the immense value of mindfulness and mental well-being, especially for women in midlife facing the physical and emotional upheavals of menopause. Meditation is not just a practice for achieving tranquillity; it's a tool for fostering resilience, enhancing mental clarity, and managing the symptoms of menopause, such as anxiety, stress, and sleep disturbances.
Embracing Change with Menopause Mastery
Working with women in their 40s and 50s, I realised the unique challenges they faced and the lack of holistic approaches addressing the physical, nutritional, and mental aspects of transitioning through menopause.
Driven by a desire to offer a holistic approach to wellness and apply my personal insights and professional expertise, I decided to leave my demanding full-time job. I dedicated myself to specialised training in fitness and nutrition, focusing on the needs of perimenopausal, menopausal and postmenopausal women. Today, as a Menopause Coach and Mentor, I integrate my expertise in fitness, nutrition, life coaching, and meditation to support women through this significant phase of life. This comprehensive approach addresses not only the physical but also the nutritional and mental aspects of navigating menopause.
My journey from a late-blooming fitness enthusiast to a survivor and a mentor has taught me the resilience of the human spirit and the power of an integrated approach to wellness. Through personalised training, nutritional guidance, life coaching and meditation practices, I aim to empower women to navigate their menopausal journey with strength, grace, and vitality.
